Oneness

We seek intimacy, closeness,
with one another, in bodies and kisses,
and lose ourselves in oneness over and over,
forgetful, unaware this is just small oneness,
not even a tiny drop in the oneness of space.
Laughable this awe, just two, messy and heady,
yet a beautiful taste of the spirit’s longing.
What is oneness, infinite intimacy?
Nothing less than all.
None felt through touch of skin,
yet felt through touch of heart,
with energy endless, combined,
and as fractals, or dew, spreading.
Awe at first, then quite ordinary,
like putting on an old familiar sweater.
