My Rock

Unknown to me yet known to my soul,
You are my rock, and I am the moss,
Growing on you, budding from you ~
You keep me steady and I keep you warm.
I have known charcoal, and air, and water,
Fire that burns, and metal that cools,
Even earth that’s comfort filled,
But you, just knowing of you,
None other would do.
I think of you now, faceless and far,
But your essence is reaching to me.
Fill me with hope, desire, and dream ~
All else was illusion, a passing phase,
Memories full to bring me to you ~
From that moment on we both will
Know home ~ know heart ~ know ~
And in a hundred years from then,
Hand in hand, as old Okinawans,
To childhood we shall return.
